The Department of Defence commissioned this report in 2004 to examine the existing information available on the ADF Cadet contribution to Defence recruitment and retention statistics. Authored by Charles Bishop, the report is widely known within Defence and more broadly as “The Bishop Report”. The report identifies that ADF Cadets, relative to their numbers, are significantly more likely to enter the ADF than their non-Cadet peers. The contents include a review of the Defence internal and external recruiting environment, the recruitment and retention of ADF Cadets into Defence, and a series of recommendations to enhance the Cadet experience and the collection of data pertaining to ADF Cadets. The publicly released Defence information incorporating this report and a 2004 Cadet Study can be viewed here.
Also known as “The Bishop Report”, the Department of Defence commissioned this report in 2007 to review the dataset underpinning “The Bishop Report”. The dataset includes Defence macro recruitment and retention statistics, information on ADF Cadets and statistics from selected initial entry training establishments. The contents include a review of the Defence workforce environment, ADF recruitment and retention of ADF Cadets, and a way forward for Defence to collect data pertaining to ADF Cadets.
