Aim: This certificated unit develops an understanding of the context within which mental health work occurs from community based organisations to outreach services. Often linked with the Certificate IV in Mental Health Work (Non-clinical), the unit covers relevant legislation, history and case studies to provide participants a sound platform to understand the various drivers within the mental health sector.

Audience: All staff who provide a range of community services and community interventions to clients with mental health issues and/or implement health promotion and community interventions.

  • Work within the context of the mental health sector
  • Develop knowledge of the mental health sector
  • Demonstrate commitment to the central philosophies of the mental health sector
  • Work with people from Culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds
