Aim: This course provides potential Equity and Diversity officers with the necessary knowledge and skills to provide advice and support to a complainant, respondent or manager concerning workplace equity and diversity issues. Participants consider via case studies and role plays the role and responsibilities of the Equity and Diversity officer.

Audience: Staff needing the skills to become an Equity and Diversity Officer.

Outcomes:

  • Understand the role and responsibilities of the Equity and Diversity Officer
  • Identify harassment, discrimination and workplace bullying
  • Explain the difference between acceptable and unacceptable behaviours
  • Provide support to the complainant, respondent or manager as necessary
  • Identify and advise on the resources and mechanisms available to support the complainant, respondent or manager
  • Understand the resolution process and resolution options
