| Situation | A manager had been appointed to bring together a variety of experienced staff from existing teams into a newly created business area. |
| Challenge | The new team had a variety of skills and experience but had not worked together as a team before. Some members of the team were also unsure of how individually they would cope with the new challenges. |
| Response | O2C provided St Vincent de Paul a team building course, based around laser sports, focussed
on improving their understanding of what a team is, how team operate and the roles and emotions
of each team member in relation the stage of the team, team goals and other team members. This
course included a full day team based activity using laser sports and a range of other experiential
activities to underpin the course outcomes. A comprehensive pre course survey identified each team members understanding of themselves and a team. This provided the facilitation team with a sound knowledge of the level of understanding of the participants. A follow up session four weeks after the full day session was conducted to ensure the outcomes of the training were embedded within the St Vincent de Paul team. |
| Outcome | The team identified that they had, both individually, and as a group high levels of capability for performing the tasks that were going to be expected of them. They identified as a group that the value Trust would be a key value for them as a group in the activities that they had to undertake together. The follow-up session conducted in the workplace confirmed that the group takeaway activities were being implemented in the new environment. |
