Situation SSDS had limited investment in Information Technology solutions and was seeking operational improvement through further investment.
Challenge Existing technology was limited to financial and payroll investments. Additionally, limited documentation was available for existing operational processes, with each major region operating independent business processes.
Response A review of existing operations in South East Queensland, Darwin, and Sydney included interviews with National Product Line managers. From this, the team developed standardised process for Customer Relationship; Operational; and Back Office processes. This included graphical documentation of the processes and word documents supporting each process, including the necessary people, process and technology benefits to be delivered through the introduction of an integrated IT solution.Concurrently, four major ERP solutions were reviewed against functionality, financial and sustainability criteria. The two best solutions were also costed over a five-year financial timeframe. Benefits were then applied to this to develop a detailed cost benefit analysis providing a clear break-even point for investment.
Outcome SSDS approved a multi-million dollar investment for a nation wide roll out of an Integrated IT solution.
