Situation IP Australia has a commitment to staff wellbeing physically, mentally and emotionally. IP has also experienced a number of return to work cases were related to mental illness.
Challenge To provide managers with training in some of the issues they may deal with when an employee suffers from mental illness.
Response IP Australia engaged O2C to deliver our Mental Health for Managers course to provide managers with a broader understanding of Mental Health in the workplace. The training provides them an opportunity to review their personal attitudes to mental illness as well as their role as managers in dealing with mental illness issues in the workplace. This course is conducted frequently throughout the year.
The outcomes of this course include:
  • Understand different attitudes to mental illness
  • Understand the effects of stigma and discrimination towards others
  • Identify the signs and symptoms of prevalent mental health problems
  • Gain awareness of the causes of mental illness
  • Understand the impact of stress within the workplace
  • Identify the relationship of stress to mental health problems
  • Develop skills to reduce stress within the workplace
  • Gain awareness of RESPECTFUL methodology for developing a mentally healthy workplace.
Outcome O2C undertook a number of training sessions with significant feedback from managers that the course gave them skills to undertake their work. In addition their brainstorming activities on the RESPECTFUL methodology gave the organisation the ability to identify initiatives that would further assist the organisation to build a mentally healthy workforce.
