Cognitive Resilience is the ability to use the ‘head’ to create a staunch acceptance of reality. Our cognitive dialogue plays an important role in our creation of reality as Buddha said “with our thoughts we create the world”.

On an individual level, we may often create thoughts that increase fears and worries that erode our ability to cope in stressful situations. We also have the ability to create thoughts that increase our ability to cope with stressful events.

On an organisational level groups of people can shy way from facing the realities of problems, such as mental illness, and often succumb to “group think” in which a problem is ignored until it becomes critical and compromises the organisation’s ability to cope.

For both organisations and individuals understanding the power of perceptions and minimising the gap between our view of the behaviour of others and their intention generates a fuller picture of reality.
